What are Family Credits?
When joining The Sitter Tree, your family purchases an amount of credits which fits your unique sitting needs. Each sitting job of 12 hours or less will reduce your account by one credit. Families may earn one credit for every family or sitter signup you refer. Credits are valid for 365 days from the date of purchase.
Is there a screening process for the sitters?
As a part of registration, all sitters are required to undergo a thorough background check through Sterling Info Systems, including a nationwide criminal check, county criminal check, sex offender check and motor vehicle record check. Any family may request (and pay for) an additional check for any sitter prior to a job. Background checks take up to three days to receive results. In addition, each sitter is required to provide three references, which are available upon request.
May I meet my sitter in advance?
Yes, and we encourage any family requesting a weekly sitter to do so. However, the three-hour minimum charge applies to all advance sitter meetings. We recognize it is essential for each family to be comfortable with their sitter; however, we also want to respect our sitters’ time.
How far in advance should I request a sitter?
During the academic year (September-April) we recommend you submit your request at least three days in advance. During summer months and holidays, we recommend you submit your request at least one week in advance.
Does The Sitter Tree guarantee that all of my sitter requests will be filled?
The Sitter Tree will guarantee a sitter for all non-weekly jobs requested one week in advance, excluding holidays. For weekly jobs, if we are unable to fill your request, your coordinator will be sure you are refunded appropriately.
How long should I wait to hear if my request has been granted?
Most sitter requests are assigned within 24 hours. You will receive an email with the name of your sitter as soon as she is assigned. Members may also log in and view all upcoming assigned sitters.

No. The Sitter Tree specializes in part-time sitters, who generally work one to two days a week and weekends.
What should I do if I need to cancel or request a sitter on short notice?
Each family has a personalized login and member area for changes and cancellations. Cancellations made within 12 hours of the scheduled start time will not be refunded.
Are the sitters insured to drive my children?
